Duo Shou Qi Classic
3D-printed Remake
Dou Shou Q Classici" is a classic Chinese tabletop game, with popular versions produced by companies such as Feima and Yuehua chang mainly in the 1970s-80s. These boxed wooden chess games, after the closure and discontinuation of production by manufacturers, have become popular objects of collection and speculation in recent years.
Our version of Dou Shou Qi is a reproduction based on the classic appearance, packaging, chessboard, and pieces of these two discontinued versions. Except for the custom packaging box, all design, production, and packaging were completed at home, and the production volume is very limited.

3D-printed Pieces
The pieces of this work are printed using FDM printers and PLA material. Compared to traditional wooden pieces, PLA material is harder and less prone to mold, making it easier to maintain.
To optimize the 3D printing effect, we have made repeated modifications and tests to the design, making the graphics and text on the pieces more three-dimensional. Each box of "Children's Jungle Chess" contains two sets of pieces in different colors, packaged in blind boxes.
Printable Chessboard
We have redrawn the animal designs based on the classic board of the Dou Shou Qi, and printed them on A4 paper with an inkjet printer before cutting them out. Each box of Dou Shou Qi comes with a folded paper chessboard.
Traditional paper chessboards are usually thin and fragile, and can easily become damaged due to wear and tear over time. Finding a suitable replacement can be difficult once a chessboard is damaged.
When you purchase our Dou Shou Qi, simply register or leave your email address, and we will send you the chessboard file to your email inbox. In case of damage to the chessboard, you can simply print a new one and continue to enjoy the game.
The Joy
In the modern world filled with various electronic products and entertainment, we seem to have forgotten and lost the joy of playing games with family and friends. The discontinuation of games, the disappearance of stationery shops, and the circulation of poorly designed products have accelerated the elimination of these small toys.
Through this product, you can re-experience the joy of playing games and appreciate the charm of local illustration, 3D design, and 3D printing. Each step is carefully designed and the latest technology is applied and demonstrated. Come and buy a box to experience its diversity and significance.
Game Rules
Chess Pieces:
There are 16 pieces in total, divided into two groups by color, with eight pieces in each group. Each piece represents a different animal: elephant, lion, tiger, leopard, wolf, dog, cat, and rat.
Chessboard and Terrain: The pieces are arranged and placed on a 7x9 board. In addition to land, there are "rivers," "traps," and "dens" on the board.
Victory Conditions:
-
The player who enters the opponent's den first wins, or
-
The player who eats all the opponent's pieces wins.
Chess Piece Ranks:
The ranks of the pieces are as follows, from highest to lowest:
Elephant > Lion > Tiger > Leopard > Wolf > Dog > Cat > Rat
Capturing:
When a player's piece is next to the opponent's piece, a higher-ranking piece can capture any piece of the same rank or any lower-ranking piece. For example, a lion can capture a tiger, leopard, etc., down to a mouse. The special condition is that an elephant can capture any lower-ranking piece, except for a mouse, and a mouse is the only piece that can capture an elephant.
Movement:
Each turn, a player can move a piece one square forward, backward, left, or right on the board. However, there are special rules for the "river":
-
Except for mice, no piece can enter the river.
-
Mice can capture the opponent's mice in the river. However, they cannot directly capture the opponent's pieces on land from the river.
-
Lions and tigers can jump over the river. If there is an opponent's piece of the same rank or lower in the square they jump to, they can capture it.
-
If a mouse is in the river, a lion or tiger cannot jump over it.
Traps:
If a player's piece enters the opponent's trap, its rank will be reduced to zero, and the opponent's piece can capture it regardless of rank.
A player's piece can enter their own trap without being affected by its rank.
Dens:
A player cannot enter their own den. If they enter the opponent's den, they win.
Introduction to 3D Printing - FDM
We use the new Bambulab 3D printers X1C and P1P to print our chess pieces. These two printers have a fast printing speed, high success rate, and excellent quality. With a standard 0.4 nozzle and settings, a batch can be printed in just 8 hours. Through this product, you can also observe and appreciate the wonders of 3D printing technology.
What is FDM? FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) is a common 3D printing technology. It uses a heated print head to melt and stack thermoplastic filament, often used for prototyping.
